Jones Would Like to Race Conner
Warren Jones, executive director of the Alan Bond syndicate that won the America’s Cup from Dennis Conner in 1983, said Sunday that he’d like a rematch.
Neither has qualified for the cup final, but Jones said: “There’s no doubt we would prefer to meet Dennis. I think that’s quite a natural reaction. He’s the biggest and the meanest sucker in the forest.
“He knows we want him badly, and we must prefer to defend this cup on the same basis that we won it.
“After all, he crumbled under pressure last time and I’m sure he might do the same again.”
