Three of four BYU football players charged with altering drug prescriptions for Percodan, a highly addictive pain killer, have pleaded guilty to reduced charges and the judge has delayed sentencing for one year.

Circuit Judge E. Patrick McGuire said the court will monitor the progress of Ladd Akeo, J.C. Von Colln and Trevor Molini during that period and “in effect, have a carrot dangling in front of them to stay straight.”

A preliminary hearing for the fourth offender, Steve Sanders, was set for Jan. 15.
