Inglewood : Mayor’s Pay Issue Extended
The City Council this week extended the deadline to file arguments on a ballot measure that would more than quadruple the mayor’s salary.
City officials decided to extend the deadline from Jan. 6 to Jan. 20 because holiday closures and a three-day power outage at City Hall in December reduced the amount of time residents and city officials could spend researching the measure, said Deputy City Clerk Veronica Watro.
The proposed measure, which will appear on the April 7 ballot, would change the City Charter to increase the mayor’s salary from $10,800 to $49,621. The ballot measure, however, would not increase the mayor’s duties substantially and the city manager would continue to be Inglewood’s chief administrator.
Residents can submit ballot arguments of 300 words or less to Inglewood City Clerk Hermanita Harris.
