Local News in Brief : Burbank Police, Fire Improvements on Way

Share

The Burbank City Council voted Tuesday to spend $10.5 million in city redevelopment funds to improve fire and police facilities.

City officials have long complained that antiquated Burbank fire stations are too small to house heavily equipped fire trucks. Police have long wanted to expand the Olive Avenue station.

The city appropriated $2 million to expand and refurbish the police station and acquire more parking space. The refurbishing of the city’s six fire stations--at least two of which will be torn down and replaced--and training center will cost $8.5 million.

The projects could take as long as four years to complete, officials said.
