USC Seniors, at Least, Deserved Some Courtesy

As a USC alumnus, I resent the way Athletic Director Mike McGee has gotten rid of the university’s major coaches. Whether or not it was in the best interest of the athletic program is beside the point. Both Coach Stan Morrison and Ted Tollner were gentlemen, but they were not treated as such by Mr. McGee.

The final insult, as reported in one newspaper, was Dr. McGee’s failure to visit the football team in its locker room after the loss to Auburn in the Citrus Bowl. A person with any feeling or compassion for players who have done their best under the most trying conditions, deserve the courtesy--especially the seniors who played their last game for USC. I was shocked.

As one member of the USC alumni, my feeling is that the university should dismiss McGee and recruit an athletic director who has some kind of empathy for handling coaches and the athletic program.
