Henry Rono, who is attempting a comeback at 34, finished a distant eighth in the 5,000-meter race at the Dartmouth Relays.

At 14:38:55, Rono lagged far behind winner Marty Ludwikowski, who was timed in 14:02:63. Rono’s best at the 5,000-meter distance was under 13:05. The Kenyan native has recently been struggling with alcohol and legal problems. He is scheduled to appear in court next week on four charges of theft by deception at four banks in northern New Jersey. Rono has entered pleas of not guilty to the charges.
