West Hollywood : Food Irradiation Laws Urged
The City Council has adopted a resolution urging the federal Food and Drug Administration to push for legislation that would require identification of foods treated with radiation.
The council called for “clear identification” of any store-sold items treated with gamma or ionizing radiation.
In recent years, a number of national food manufacturers have touted the food irradiation process as a way to improve the durability of their products.
