The Women’s History Project of Ventura County, a joint task force of the Ventura County Commission for Women and the Ventura County Women’s Equity Coalition, is accepting nominations for two Erica Neville Memorial Alice Paul Awards, one honoring an educator, and the other a community activist for making “women in history come alive in the classroom.” The awards are named for American suffragist Alice Paul and are being given in honor of Erica Neville, an initiator of the Women’s History Project in Ventura County. The nomination deadline is Jan. 28. The awards will be presented March 7 at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks during the program “Creative Options: A Day for Women.” Call 805-652-7611 for more information.

Johnny Grant, honorary mayor of Hollywood, will be honored by the San Fernando Valley Unit of the Arthritis Foundation at a “Tribute to Johnny” dinner Feb. 20 at the Sheraton Premiere Hotel in Universal City.
