Pacific Bell submitted data for a PUC rate review.

As ordered by the California Public Utilities Commission in December, the telephone company filed data reflecting the impact of lower inflation, interest rates and bond costs on its operations. A Pacific Bell spokesman said the commission could request a $76-million rate reduction based on the data. Pacific Bell, which is required to provide such data every three years, is challenging the review because the commission’s request is unusual and comes in the middle of the company’s reporting cycle.
