PCAA Roundup : Pacific Overtakes Fresno State
Roberto Modesto hit an off-balance, 15-foot jump shot at the buzzer to give University of the Pacific a 64-62 Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. victory over Fresno State Thursday night at Fresno.
Modesto’s shot capped off a wild rally for the Tigers (8-9 overall, 4-4 in the PCAA), who overcame a 20-point deficit in the final 16 minutes.
Pacific still trailed by 11 with 3:07 remaining, but Christian Gray hit a pair of three-point baskets and scored a layup with nine seconds remaining to tie the game, 62-62.
Brent Counts had 24 points for Pacific, and Gray added 18. Mike Mitchell scored 20 for Fresno (7-11, 2-5).
San Jose State 70, UC Santa Barbara 64--Ricky Berry scored 31 points to lead the Spartans (8-8, 4-3) past the Gauchos (8-7, 4-3) at San Jose.
