“Romeo and Juliet.” Embassy. $59.95. Paul Czinner’s slightly abridged 1966 film of Kenneth MacMillan’s Shakespearean ballet (music by Prokofiev) is doubly important today. Besides preserving the partnership of Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev at its zenith, the film reveals to a new generation the remarkable freshness, detail and authority of the original Royal Ballet production--compared to the much less persuasive 1985 staging of the same work by American Ballet Theatre.
