CHP Officer’s Bail Doubled

SAN DIEGO —
A judge today doubled bail to $1 million for suspended California Highway Patrol Officer Craig Allen Peyer, who is charged with the strangulation of a college student he allegedly pulled over while on duty.
Municipal Judge Herbert Exarhos took the action on the recommendation of prosecutor Joe Van Orshoven. The deputy district attorney said several witnesses had expressed anxiety about Peyer’s possible release.
