Pulitzer-Prize-winning playwright Edward Albee will join the University of Houston drama department in January as distinguished professor of drama and head of the department’s playwriting division. Albee directed Houston’s Alley Theater’s production of his one-act plays “Counting the Ways” and “The Death of Bessie Smith” last fall and spent a month at the school in its artist-in-residence program.
