CBS LOSES ‘SHELL GAME’ IN RATINGS
After only three outings against the top-rated show on television--NBC’s “The Cosby Show”--CBS decided Thursday to scrap “Shell Game,” which has been swamped in the ratings since its Jan. 8 premiere.
It will be replaced in the schedule--but not in the time slot--by “Spies,” an hourlong series starring George Hamilton, Gary Kroeger and Barry Corbin.
The new secret-agent show, which will mix action and comedy, will air Tuesdays at 8 p.m., beginning March 3. “The Wizard,” which currently occupies that slot, will move to Thursdays at 8 p.m. Feb. 19, one week after the final broadcast of “Shell Game,” which stars Margot Kidder and James Read.
