A San Diego man found dead in a doorway on Van Dyke Avenue early Sunday morning was apparently shot during an argument in an East San Diego alley, San Diego police reported.
Christopher Wayne Royster, 25, was found shot in the back about 6:15 a.m. and was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said Royster and an unidentified man were walking in the west alley of the 4000 block of Van Dyke Avenue when the other man began firing. The victim ran a short distance before he collapsed. His assailant fled.
