Three teen-agers have been arrested on suspicion of committing more than 60 thefts and vandalizing 23 cars, Sheriff’s Department spokesmen said.

The names of the juveniles, a 13-year-old girl and two boys, 13 and 14, were not released because they are not adults.

The teens were released to their parents after admitting their involvement to detectives, Deputy Jim Mika said.

The arrests occurred after a deputy cited the three for breaking curfew about 4 a.m. Monday and took them home.

A short time later, the parents of the youths called the department and reported that their children had been involved in a variety of thefts and vandalism, Detective Chuck Kett said.

Kett went to the homes, talked to the teens and arrested them on a total of 100 counts, including 23 cases of vandalism in the last two weeks in which cars parked in Vista were spray-painted.

They also are being investigated in the theft of items from 60 unlocked cars and shoplifting from 11 businesses, Mika said.
