An 8-year-old South El Monte girl who was kidnaped near her home as she was walking to school has been returned to her parents unharmed and a 16-year-old suspect is in custody, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said. A witness provided deputies with a description of the van used in the kidnaping and the girl and suspect were found 10 minutes later at Legg Lake Park, two miles away, by Sgt. John Rahn of the Temple City station. A spokesman declined to release the name of the girl or the suspect. There is no connection with this case and the recent disappearances and deaths of Phoebe Ho of South Pasadena and Wendy Osborn of Placentia, the spokesman said.
