Hiromi Taniguchi of Japan took the lead in the last two miles of the Tokyo International Marathon and went on to cross the finish line more than 100 meters ahead of Takeyuki Nakayama.
Taniguchi’s winning time was 2:10:06, while Nakayama was clocked in 2:10:33.
At Valencia, Spain, Miroslaw Bugaj of Poland won the Marathon of Valencia in 2:19:06.
