The League of Women Voters announced ambitious plans for unprecedented parallel sets of presidential primary debates in 1988, face-to-face confrontations for the Democrats and a similar series for the Republicans. Neuman said that the first pair of debates will be in mid-February, 1988, in New Hampshire, with the second set in early March in Nashville, Tenn. “We may hold them one night after another, or two days apart . . . depending on the candidates’ schedules,” Neuman said.
