Share

Project ASIA (Asian Shared Information and Access), created by a group of Los Angeles County librarians, has been honored with one of four national awards given by the American Library Assn. at its recent convention.

County Librarian Linda Crismond accepted the first place President’s Award for Library Services for New Americans, which commended the project director, Kate Seifert.

Project ASIA, based in the county’s Huntington Park library, selects, acquires and catalogues books in Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese and provides a resource for librarians, educators and community representatives throughout the state. It is administered by the California state librarian and coordinated by the South State Cooperative Library System.
