A spokesman for Edward G. (Buddy) LeRoux confirmed that the part owner of the Boston Red Sox baseball team and Suffolk Downs thoroughbred racing track is considering buying the New England Patriots.

The package would include the National Football League team, 60,000-seat Sullivan Stadium in Foxboro, where the Patriots play their home games, and the lease on the adjacent harness racing facility, which has been closed since late December.

The Boston Herald quoted unidentified sources as saying LeRoux wants to buy the Patriots and convert Suffolk Downs in East Boston into a domed stadium where the team would play.
