Wide receiver Mark Duper of the Miami Dolphins was arrested Wednesday on charges of speeding and driving with a suspended license, Metro-Dade police said.

Duper, who led Dolphin receivers with 1,313 yards in 67 catches last season, was driving a 1986 Mercedes-Benz on Highway 826 at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday when he was stopped by Officer William Fowler.

A routine records check showed that Duper’s driver’s license had been suspended, and Duper, 28, was arrested and taken to the Dade County jail, police spokesman Jim Hutton said.

The arrest report listed no estimate of the speed, and it did not appear to be a radar stop, Hutton said. Duper was released on his own recognizance eight minutes after booking.

The Northwestern State player is entering his sixth year with the Dolphins. Named twice to the Pro Bowl, he caught 11 touchdown passes and averaged 19.6 yards per carry in 1986.
