A 1971 movie banned by Imelda Marcos because it features her husband’s alleged mistress makes its Manila debut today. “Maharlika” actress Dovie Beams publicly claimed 16 years ago that she had an affair with former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos during filming, and Imelda Marcos banned it from the country--driving the company that made the movie into bankruptcy. At the time, a student radio station broadcast what it said were tape recordings of Marcos crooning native Filipino love songs to Beams while the couple was in bed.
