A 21-year-old woman was killed and a man was wounded in an argument with the woman’s former boyfriend Friday in Van Nuys, police said.

Tami Carraher, who was shot “numerous” times in the upper body with a handgun, was pronounced dead at the scene in her Van Nuys apartment in the 13600 block of Sherman Way, Los Angeles police said.

Rudy Rocha, 27, of Van Nuys, was arrested on suspicion of murder, Detective Mel Arnold said, but police were still trying to learn who shot Robert Haro, 25, the brother of Carraher’s current boyfriend.

At the time of the shooting, Rocha was accompanied by Carlos Ventura, 26, of San Fernando, Detective Dan Riehl said. Ventura also was arrested on suspicion of murder because he owns the handgun that investigators believe was used in the shooting, Riehl said.

Haro, of Pacoima, was recovering from a gunshot wound in the arm at County-USC Medical Center.
