Maurilio DeZolt of Italy led from start to finish and defeated fast-closing Thomas Wassberg of Sweden to win the 50-kilometer race that concluded the World Nordic Ski Championships at Oberstdorf, West Germany.
DeZolt, 36, finished in 2 hours 11 minutes 27.2 seconds. Wassberg was clocked in 2:11.49.5.
