Erik Sorenson, ousted as news director at KCBS Channel 2 after its disastrous experiment with 20-minute newscasts last year, has been named news director at KTTV Channel 11, starting March 2. He replaces Joseph Saitta, who moved to Washington to become news director at the sister Fox Broadcasting station there, WTTG. . . . Another Channel 2 News personality, Steve Gendel, health editor at for the past 23 months, will join rival KNBC-TV on March 10, a Channel 4 spokeswoman said. He will continue to report on health-related subjects for the NBC-owned station, appearing initially on the daily 4 p.m. newscast.
