Beverly Hills Parking Tickets

Share

After reading about “phantom” parking tickets from Beverly Hills, I feel compelled to relate a story of my own.

I also was a victim of the carelessness of the Beverly Hills Police Department. In January of 1985 I received a notice in the mail that my BMW had been ticketed for illegal parking in Beverly Hills and failure to pay the fine immediately would result in substantial penalty.

What? My car is a Datsun, and I was in Hawaii at the time of the alleged incident with my car safely locked in the garage. On top of that it’s been more than a year since my last (next to very last) visit to Beverly Hills. But, yes, they did have my license plate number correct (incorrect?).

Well, rather than just pay the erroneous ticket, I made a trip across town to the Beverly Hills Court House and spent half a day there waiting in lines, etc., to present the above evidence. The judge did dismiss the citation.

Apparently, an error was made somewhere in the transcription of the license number. This slip of the pen is costing me and a lot of other people great expense. It cost me gas, time, parking fare, and a lot of frustration! Get with it Beverly Hills”
