A borrowed California Highway Patrol plane is being used to track the freeways between the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento for a growing number of speeders. “It’s been very effective,” CHP Officer Dave Meyer said of Monday’s start of the operation. “A lot of guys coming back in from that duty have a lot of citations, more than usual.” The Solano County CHP has the aircraft on loan from the Sacramento Valley CHP at least until Friday. It will be available after that for several days a month. The aircraft patrols interstates 80, 680, 780 and 505 and alerts CHP ground units to speeding motorists on their way toward Sacramento.
