Astronaut Brewster H. Shaw had a fiery landing Tuesday. The T-38 jet carrying Shaw, 41, and pilot Robert A. Rivers, 35, apparently was struck by lightning as it approached the Los Alamitos Armed Forces Reserve Center--setting off fires in both engines and forcing an emergency landing.
Neither man was injured.
