Baldy Snowfall Spurs Hope for New Investors

Share

Fresh snow in the Southern California mountains has brought renewed hope that Mt. Baldy facilities, especially the 68-year-old Ice House, might appeal to new investors.

The Ice House, which closed recently, was a victim of the long dry winter and other circumstances.

Bob Olson, owner of the Ice House, was the prime mover behind an effort launched in January to sell all of the Mt. Baldy facilities to a single resort operator. He hasn’t given up on that idea. “We had a couple of tentative buyers,” he said. “Now I’m trying to get back to them to see how serious they were.”
