Ten original Andy Warhol silk screens were stolen from the basement of Chicago’s Spertus Museum of Judaica, police said. The prints by the late pop artist were reported missing Tuesday afternoon from a storage room at the museum, said Det. Thomas Jones. He said museum staff members had last seen the works Feb. 26. Museum director Morris Fred told police the Warhol works were insured for a total of $50,000, but expects they may soon double in value because of Warhol’s death on Feb. 22.
