Dodger Notebook : Welch Misses Workout With Sore Right Elbow

Share

Dodger pitcher Bob Welch, complaining of soreness in his right elbow, missed Thursday’s workout here. Welch, who has recurring soreness caused by a bone spur, was examined by Dr. Frank Jobe, who also took X-rays.

“The spur we’ve known about for five years is still there,” Jobe said. “It’s slightly enlarged over the last year, but there is no fracture. We’ll go ahead with the same treatment we’ve used the last four or five years and be careful with it.”

Jobe said that Welch can resume his normal pitching schedule. Welch and Jerry Reuss are scheduled to pitch Monday against the Baltimore Orioles in Miami.
