Lazers Meet Sockers in San Diego Tonight
The Lazers, rapidly falling out of playoff contention in the Major Indoor Soccer League, will play the defending champion San Diego Sockers tonight at 6 at the San Diego Sports Arena.
Since the top four teams in each division make the playoffs, the last-place Lazers (7-25), losers of 15 of their last 16 games, would have to catch the St. Louis Steamers and the fourth-place Wichita Wings, whom they trail by nine games with 20 games to play.
The Sockers (19-13) trail the Western Division-leading Tacoma Stars by two games.
Surprisingly, the Lazers have been fairly successful against the Sockers this season, beating them twice in four meetings.
