The Iraqi Museum is scouring the globe to recover 1,659 ancient Iraqi historical and artistic works from foreign museums. One hundred clay inscription tablets--dating back prior to 1000 B.C.--are being requested from the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago. The Iraqi Museum, in accordance with a U.N. decision, has signed agreements with several foreign museums and universities to get back ancient artifacts originally found in Iraq.
