Animal Experimentation Stirs Emotions

Share

After reading the article entitled, “Pets Reap Benefits of Human Medical Progress” (by Lynn Simross, March 8), I had to write in protest of your obvious and desperate attempt to continue to brainwash the public. The Los Angeles Times is notorious for systematically acting as a mouthpiece for the biomedical community while continuing to ignore the massive body of evidence against animal experimentation.

In the above-mentioned article, it was stated that doctors and veterinarians should work together to find “cures” for human disease. This is ridiculous. Animals and people are totally different in every way. Animals react differently to drugs than humans do. If we are the same, as you seem to indicate, why are there doctors for people and veterinarians for animals?

Experimental research is invalid applied to humans, and is invalid when applied to animals as well. Clinical research must be carefully conducted, which means we must study the person or animal that has spontaneously contracted disease.
