Seal Beach : Electrician Recovering From Flash Fire Injuries

Share

An electrician working in a computer room is recuperating today from serious burns caused by a flash fire at the Rockwell International plant here.

Richard Guarnieri, 30, of Moreno Valley was listed in fair condition Monday at Los Alamitos Medical Center. He suffered first-degree burns to his face and first- and second-degree burns to his hands, according to county Fire Capt. Patrick McIntosh.

Fire officials said Guarnieri was working with fellow electrician Bill Collier, 56, of Fontana last Friday on the eighth floor of the company’s plant, located in the 2200 block of Seal Beach Boulevard when an arc in an electrical panel caused a flash fire that burned Guarnieri and briefly blacked out the plant.

The fire was out before county firefighters arrived, McIntosh said, adding that damage was only about $75. Collier, who wasn’t burned, was taken to the medical center for observation and then released, McIntosh said.
