San Diego
The National Football League has picked the Hotel Inter-Continental, on the bay waterfront, as its headquarters for next year’s Super Bowl, which will be held Jan. 31.
The 1,364-room hotel, consisting of two 25-story towers, one of which is under construction but which will be completed later this year, will house the NFL staff, about 400 members of the media and corporate groups affiliated with the NFL during the week prior to the game.
Among the events to be scheduled at the hotel will be NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle’s press conference with the head coaches of the two competing teams, and the traditional pre-game brunch and post-game party, all to be held in the hotel’s Pavilion Ballroom.
