Marina del Rey : Opposition to Bypass Route

Share

The Oxford Triangle Residents Assn., representing 363 households in an area bounded by Washington Street, Lincoln Boulevard and the city-county border at Marina del Rey, has voiced its opposition to any attempt to route the Marina Bypass road through their community.

Several routes are under consideration by the county and public hearings will be held when a precise route is selected.

Residents’ spokeswoman Challis Macpherson last week told the county Small Craft Harbor Commission that residents fear the proposed Marina Bypass will create noise and air pollution problems in the neighborhood instead of solving traffic congestion as intended.

The Coastal Commission has mandated that the Marina Bypass be built before new development can take place in Marina del Rey. The general path of the bypass is from the Marina Freeway and Lincoln Boulevard northward to Washington Boulevard.
