The Region : Orange County Jail Fight Investigated
Orange County sheriff’s deputies quelled a fight involving from eight to 12 inmates in a holding cell in the main jail in Santa Ana. No one was seriously injured but one prisoner was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange with undetermined injuries and was to be held overnight for observation, Sheriff’s Lt. Harold Schaffroth said. Schaffroth added that deputies did not know how the incident started but were conducting an investigation to determine the cause, and to see if any charges would be brought.
