Police are investigating the wounding Thursday night of an East San Diego woman, who allegedly pointed a gun at narcotics officers as they broke through her front door.
Cassandra Williams, 24, was shot five times in the upper body by a Narcotics Task Force officer. She was taken to Mercy Hospital, where she is listed in guarded condition in the intensive care unit. The officer, Kenneth Gordon, has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation, Lt. Bert Moorhead said.
Police declined to say what charges Williams might be facing. Gordon, a county deputy sheriff, will undergo a routine psychological examination and will probably return to work early next week, Moorhead said.
Police officials said Gordon and other members of the multi-agency Narcotics Task Force had a search warrant for the apartment in the 4300 block of 48th Street. Williams was lying on the couch and raised a loaded handgun as they entered at 6:40 p.m., police said.
The pistol and evidence of narcotics were seized at the apartment, according to police.
