Dale Earnhardt finished 2.65 seconds ahead of Geoff Bodine to win the Country Squire 200 at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, S.C.
Finishing third behind Bodine was his younger brother Brett. Darrell Waltrip was fourth and Harry Gant fifth.
Earnhardt led five times for 79 laps in the 147-lap NASCAR event and collected $12,145. He averaged 137.850 m.p.h. in a Chevrolet. The race was slowed by three caution flags for 12 laps.
