University of Miami baseball Coach Ron Fraser...
University of Miami baseball Coach Ron Fraser became only the second major college coach to top the 1,000-victory mark when his Hurricanes edged Arizona, 9-8, at Coral Gables, Fla.
In his 25 years at Miami, Fraser’s teams have a record of 1,000-346-8. The only major college coach with more official victories is Rod Dedeaux, who retired after 45 years at USC with 1,332 wins.
“I’ve had some great moments in my career--a world title, the two College World Series championships among them--but this day right here is the happiest of my life,” said Fraser, 50.
The Hurricanes won the College World Series in 1982 and 1985, and Fraser coached the United States team to a world championship in 1973.
