Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley and industrialist Armand Hammer failed in another attempt to resolve the dispute over a proposed seating reconfiguration at the Memorial Coliseum. A participant in a meeting in Hammer’s office said the mayor pressed Coliseum Commission President Alexander Haagen to sign a letter of intent to proceed with the $9-million project this year, but after the mayor left to attend the Oscar presentations, the gathering of Haagen, Los Angeles Raiders owner Al Davis and others broke down in an impasse. A new meeting was set for Wednesday.
