An 11-year-old Garden Grove boy joyriding in his family’s motor home broadsided a car in Fullerton, killing an elderly woman and injuring her husband. Police said an officer spotted the coach on Harbor Boulevard and as the officer pulled behind, the boy accelerated and ran a red light, striking a Toyota sedan. Margaret Doris Rooney, 72, of Fullerton, a passenger, died of chest injuries at a nearby hospital. Her husband, Daniel Francis Rooney, 81, was treated for minor head cuts. The boy was questioned and released to his parents. Police said it was doubtful any criminal charges would be filed.
