The Region : 3 Killed in Laguna Canyon Road Crash

Three people were killed and a woman was critically injured in a grinding two-car crash in the darkness on Laguna Canyon Road north of El Toro Road that set off a major traffic tieup, Laguna Beach police reported. There was no immediate identification of the victims who died at the scene nor a 33-year old woman who was airlifted to Mission Community Hospital in Mission Viejo with a possible crushed chest. The two vehicles involved were going in opposite directions but police could not immediately say whether the crash was head-on. The California Highway Patrol closed off Laguna Canyon Road between the San Diego Freeway and El Toro Road. Laguna Beach police dispatcher Anita Fisher said.
