“The Fly,” expected to be a huge rental hit, zipped up to No. 9 in its first week on the Billboard magazine rental chart. In the next few weeks, “The Fly” and “Stand By Me” (No. 4 after just two weeks) will be the primary challengers to “Top Gun,” still the rental king. Look for “A Room With a View,” which debuted on the rental chart at No. 34, to take a huge leap next week. “Half Moon Street” (No. 13) and “The Name of the Rose” (No. 14), which were not box-office hits, are doing well on the rental chart. “Top Gun” is also the sales chart leader. “The Sound of Music,” a steady seller, surged back into the sales chart’s Top 10 again, at No. 6. Other Billboard vid charts: “Sleeping Beauty” continues as the No. 1 kidvid cassette. “Jane Fonda’s Low Impact Aerobic Workout” and “Jane Fonda’s New Workout” head the health and fitness chart.
