Two people were pulled from the water and two others were missing after a small plane crashed about a half mile off the coast near Malibu Colony, authorities said. The crash, about 500 yards off the shore near Pepperdine University, was seen by numerous people who reported it to the Sheriff’s Department and to the U.S. Coast Guard, officials said. The two survivors were flown to Harbor General Medical Center where they were being treated for shock, said Coast Guard Lt. John Ochs. The Coast Guard sent two boats and a helicopter searching the area west of the Malibu pier, Ochs said. Witnesses reported they saw the plane flying low over Malibu, then turn west and crash into the water, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said.
