A 33-year-old Highland Park man was thrown from his motorcycle and killed after colliding with a car on the northbound Golden State Freeway near Cherry Canyon in Newhall, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Philip Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident Sunday night, Officer Kent Buzbee said.
Thompson had been trying to pass on the left side of a car driven by Mohammed A. Sarodi, 35, of Santa Clara. His motorcycle sideswiped the auto, throwing Thompson to the pavement, where he was struck by an auto driven by Dahgney A. Biddle, 70, of San Leandro, Buzbee said.
Neither she nor Sarodi was hurt, Buzbee said.
