City to Aid Nursing Home: The City Council has decided to lend a hand to California Lutheran Homes, which is planning a $6-million renovation and 99-bed expansion of Walnut Manor, a nursing home. The home, at 891 S. Walnut St., plans to sell bonds to pay for its remodeling and addition, and the city government will issue tax-exempt certificates of participation, the council agreed Tuesday. The certificates expose the city treasury to “no liability of any kind” but will qualify the nursing home for lower interest rates, said Anaheim’s finance director, George P. Ferrone. The cost to Anaheim is expected to range from $5,000 to $10,000, which will be “fully reimbursed,” Ferrone said.
