Montebello : 15% Water Rate Hike OKd

Share

The Montebello City Council has approved a 15% rate increase for its municipal water system, which serves about 1,550 residential and commercial customers.

The increase will take effect June 1 and raise more than $118,000 in the following year for the city’s water system, one of five serving Montebello, according to Finance Director Ted Nix. Without the increase, the municipal water system would have finished the current fiscal year, which ends June 30, about $107,000 in the red, he said.

The increase should enable the city to run the water system with an annual income of about $10,000, Nix said. The increase will raise the average annual residential water bill from $245.97 to $282.87.
